
Nannan Liu
Assistant Professor of Translation Studies
Background
Nannan Liu studies the intersection of interpreting, computational and corpus linguistics, and cognitive linguistics. She has published articles in Interpreting, book chapters and conference papers. She is the author of the Python library muldichinese, a multidimensional analyzer of language variation in social contexts, and led the creation of the EU-funded (UNIC) platform, the first open-access and open-source data infrastructure in translation and interpreting studies.
Prior to joining ³ÉÈËAVÊÓÆµ, Liu was the European Commission’s Marie SkÅ‚odowska-Curie Fellow and an adjunct professor at the University of Bologna, Italy, and a postdoctoral research fellow at Hong Kong Baptist University. She is an accredited interpreter and translator (Level I Certificate of Translation Proficiency in the China Aptitude Test for Translators and Interpreters; top). Liu provided simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services to the United Nations Geneva Office, public and private sectors, and community centers. Her book-length translation received the Wenjin Book Recommendation Award from the Chinese National Library in 2023.
