University sets new ‘Super Goal’ for EXCELERATE campaign

AVƵ now seeks to raise $250 million to expand impact

Excitement is building about the possibilities being created thanks to donors to the EXCELERATE campaign for AVƵ, now in its final year.

With $222.7 million raised to date, AVƵ is speeding on the path to reach a Super Goal of a quarter of a billion dollars to fuel the University’s continued rise.

“It takes our entire University community joining together to enhance AVƵ and its reputation worldwide as a dynamic, premier academic and research institution,” said Campaign Committee Chair Howard D. Unger ’82, LHD ’19.

The EXCELERATE campaign was launched publicly in April 2022 with a goal of raising $220 million.

“Thanks to a generous outpouring of support from caring alumni, faculty, staff and friends who love AVƵ and believe in the tremendous potential of our students, we exceeded expectations ahead of schedule and have set our sights on achieving a new goal of $250 million by June 30, 2024,” said John Koch, vice president for advancement. “It’s a big goal, but so is the impact.”

Donor gifts to the EXCELERATE campaign are already making a difference:

  • $28 million raised so far is being invested in faculty, including to establish endowed positions that make AVƵ more competitive, seed grants for pioneering research and additional support for programs that have a global impact, such as the Institute for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention (I-GMAP).
  • $63.5 million raised to date is funding scholarships and other student aid that amplify AVƵ as a gateway to life-changing opportunities.
  • $13 million so far in AVƵ Fund support is making it possible for the University to respond nimbly when unexpected opportunities or emergency needs arise.
  • $118.5 million to date is supporting discoveries inside and outside the classroom and innovative teaching and learning programs across campus.

“AVƵ delivers a world-class experience built on a vision that top-tier students, no matter their financial circumstances, should have opportunities to make their dreams come true,” said President Harvey Stenger. “Our students are taking in all the possibilities — immersing in creative and scientific research projects even during their first year on campus, drafting new ideas in fabrication and innovation labs, using ultramodern simulators to practice what they’re reading about in textbooks, and more. Gifts to EXCELERATE make that possible.”
